Another Huge Weekend of CT Underground Music!!

Okay, you should know by now how CT does it, and this weekend is no different. We've got 3 devastating events going down throughout the state on Friday & Saturday, so if you're looking for something to do, pay attention!!
First up, this Friday, April 1st, Fury and Leathal Wreckords are bringing Bizarre of D-12 right to our front door. (Well, at least down the street a bit.) Yes, you heard correct, Bizarre of D-12 will be performing at Bleachers in the beautiful city of Bristol, CT, home of FTI Records, the Grindhouse, Fury, Kryptik, 5:AM, DJ Cubed, & that place with all the huge satellite dishes, ESPN or something like that. Plus, the show is for a great cause. It's a benefit concert put on by Fury's label to raise money for the Mathew Walton Fund, a young Bristol man who recently lost his life. The show is $15 at the door and all proceeds will go directly to the Mathew Walton Fund, so please come out and donate, plus you'll get to see a land mark concert and witness history made for the city of Bristol. Doors are at 9:30pm, 21+. Performances by Bizarre, Fury, Disaria, Jack Beazly, & Lewn.
Next, on Saturday April 2nd, the FTI Records "Mosh Pit Hip Hop" band known as DV8 will be performing in Naugatuck, CT for the first time, a place that both Kryptik & DJ Cubed have once called home. This is not just any show, the band was asked to perform at Construction Cafe during a pig roast which will have live music being played from 4pm-9pm. Food, beer, and music, the greatest combination ever invented. DV8 will be performing an hour long set while indulging in glutenous behavior via mass amounts of swine and beer. These boys are going HAM, literally. Come out and join 'em! Two other bands will be going on before DV8 including EoE, a rock band consisting of DV8 members Havy & Just Jimmy, as well as a cover band starring the one and only Codeman of Midi & Code fame.

But that's not the end of Saturday for FTI Records. Nope, with a belly full of pig and a nice beer buzz, as soon as DV8 leaves the stage we're heading to Dewey's Pub in Seymour for the Full Blast Mixtape Release Party. 5:AM will be blowing the roof off Dewey's as usual, along with Duece Bug & Chuck Nickels, White Cheddar, MC Johnny Wae, BC Connect, & DJ Mo Niklz on the wheels of steel. Oh, did we mention this is a FREE show? Well we just did. And don't forget to grab your copy of the new Full Blast Mixtape while you're there which drops that night!! 8pm doors, 21+ with ID. We'll also be celebrating 5:AM's birthday all night long so when you see that man buy him a drink!!

DV8 Releases "Push" on Reverbnation

With putting the finishing touches on their up coming 8 song "demo" EP dropping very soon, FTI Records' own DV8 have decided to finally release a track on the internet. Since the beginning DV8 has decided to do exactly the opposite of what you're supposed to do these days as a musician regarding the internet, by avoiding it as much as possible. They believed in making a name for themselves the way bands used to do, by physically going out and passing out music, performing shows all over, and face to face promotion. Well after over 2 years of this and hundreds of requests, they've decided it's time to give the people what they want. So now, for the first time ever, you can finally listen to a DV8 song on the internet instead of waiting till the next concert to hear it, or hoping BigBar Radio plays it on their next show, or trying to get that burnt CD to work that's all scratched to shit from overplay. Without further adieu we give to you, the first official "internet" released track by DV8:
"PUSH"

SHOWS SHOWS SHOWS!!

With 6 artists currently signed to FTI Records, it's hard to keep up with the amount of shows we have going on all the time. Seems like for each one we play we book at least 2 more. But hey, we've been doing it that way for the past 5 years, did you think we were gonna slow down? Hell no! Lucky for you though, you can keep up with everything with just one click of a mouse, no need to browse through a dozen different pages. Just hit up FTIrecords.com, it's automatically updated daily with our blog, facebook posts, upcoming shows, you tube videos, and anything else FTI releated. You can even grab our Reverbnation show widgets, tune widgets & video widgets right off the page and post them wherever you want. They update themselves whenever we add anything to them, even after you paste them, so you don't even have to do a thing after that to keep up to date. And of course if you're extra lazy, you don't have to check our damn page at all!! Just head there once to enter your e-mail for our newsletter or subscribe to this blog, and all our upcoming shows & news will be sent right to you. See how easy we make life for ya? Speaking of shows, here's a run down of what we got in the works for the next couple months:

 Sun. Feb. 27th, 2011:

Sat. March 12, 2011:

Kryptik will be a guest judge for the craziness that is "Bogus Idol" put on by Bogus Trizzy and our friends at Panic Productions, and will also be performing later in the night. This is not a regular show, it's going to be complete insanity as you can guess by the name of it. All we can tell you right now is that it's going down at 6:00pm at Golf Dome- 1 Keys Way in West Warwick, RI, and that the infamous Mulch will be engaging in a song for song American Idol style judged contest against Rob-U-Blind. Stay tuned for more details.

Sun. March 13th, 2011:

Long time friend and FTI Records supporter known simply as Phatty. . . wait, fuck that this man needs no introduction. Phatty has been down with FTI Records before we ever even played a show in CT, before Kryptik ever pressed a CD, before we even had a damn myspace page or website. Phatty is the friggin man, that's you need to know. Well that and the fact that he's putting on his 3rd show at Tammany Hall, appropriately titled "Phatty 3." on March 13th. It features FTI Records artists Kryptik & James Joyce, as well as an all star line-up including Political Animals, Fury, Masstapeace, Bogus Trizzy, & more TBA. Full details have not yet been released, we'll keep you posted. Oh, but we can tell you that Kryptik has granted Phatty the power to choose all the songs he will be performing for his entire set at this show, because Phatty is the friggin man.

Remembering Ben Wu

Today marks the 3 year mysterious and unsolved disappearance of Ben Wu, a man who ran the Webster Theatre for most of his life and was responsible for giving many local CT musicians their first chance to perform on a real stage. Ben worked closely with myself & FTI Records, from putting us on our first shows ever, to letting us open for a laundry list of our favorite performers over the years, to eventually giving us the opportunity to put on shows of our own, and he is responsible for the relationship that we still maintain with the Webster today even under different ownership & management. So if you are coming to the show this Sat. Jan 15th at the Webster, please take a quick second to close your eyes and think of Ben while you're there, as many of us CT artists do every time we step on that stage. - Kryptik

"Hard to believe that Ben Wu has been gone for three years today. I still think there is a chance that he's on a spiritual journey in life instead of in death. Presumptions are just that." -Brash
